Hi everyone, new to Ubuntu and been doing research for the past 2 days, love it so far.

Anyways, I recently tried this guide to Enlightened Gnome and after finished the tutorial, I log in to my original default session XClient and now my desktop effects are no longer activated and I receive the error "Desktop effects could not be activated" when I try to re-activate.

In the terminal showing compiz this is whats displayed, and I know there is something wrong here.

Ever since my computer runs slower as well. Any help appreciated.

Sorry, I am also a NEWbie so no help, but I am having the same prob...have an ATI 1150 video card in a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop.

Fixed-driver issue...had to enable non-supported driver and everything works fine now.
